PR Evolution: A Hands-on Social Media Workshop PDF Print E-mail

Sponsored by Public Relations Society of America - Kansas Chapter

8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Friday, Sept. 17, 2010

American Red Cross Blood Services - 707 N. Main

We stand at time of great change in the field of public relations. WHAT we do in our jobs today remains the same – we try to influence influencers who can spread our message. But, HOW we do our jobs is rapidly changing with the growth of social media. Some of us have grown up with social media and some of us are just now digging in. One thing is certain, if we don’t embrace new tools and new ways to reach influencers, we will not have a public relations job in the future – period.

This event will feature dynamic speakers from the Digital Evolution Group in Kansas City discussing how to build your personal brand and sharing social media strategies they’ve used successfully with clients like Hallmark and Timberland. The workshop will also feature local experts discussing trends and participants will learn how to make video, a new job expectation for most PR pros.

The world of public relations is changing rapidly, are you prepared?

September Member Meeting at Larkspur PDF Print E-mail

Join WAMA for the September meeting at Larkspur, Thursday, September 16th.

Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. and the program is from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

Program: "Generational Management"

Presented by

Esther Headley & Bob Ross,

The Research Partnership Inc.

This is the first time in history that we have had four different generations working together in the workforce. Come to this presentation and learn about the unique characteristics each generation has, and how these contribute to the workforce. Have fun in learning which management style works best for each generation.

Bob and I have fun presenting on this topic because we are from two different generations.   --Esther Headley

Esther Headley received her B.B.A. (majoring in marketing) and MBA degrees from Wichita State University. She is a part-time faculty member in the Department of Marketing at the WSU W. Frank Barton School of Business. Before returning to school for her graduate work, Esther had six years of industrial experience in the areas of computers and sales. She has been a marketing consultant since 1989. In addition to numerous awards, Esther was named the 2009 Wichita Marketer of the Year by the Wichita American Marketing Association.

Bob Ross received his A.B. and M.B.A. degrees from Cornell University and his Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma with an emphasis in marketing. He is an associate professor of marketing at the WSU W. Frank Barton School of Business. Before returning to academia to earn his doctorate, Bob worked for nearly 10 years in consumer products marketing, with his last position being associate marketing brand manager for the Scott Paper Company in Philadelphia.
