Social media seminar beneficial to marketers and HR
The Wichita American Marketing Association (WAMA) hosted a seminar titled Social Anxiety: Social Media Meets Corporate Policy on March 31 to nearly 90 local marketers and human resource professionals at Delta Dental of Kansas. The two-hour seminar, hosted by Delta Dental of Kansas and Webstratics, a service of Armstrong-Shank, was moderated by Lou Heldman, distinguished senior fellow in media management and journalism at Wichita State University. He also was one of the afternoon speakers.
Other speakers included Trish Thelen, partner, Foulston Siefkin Law Firm; Doug Oliver, director, Cessna Corporate Communications; and Jarrod Bartlett, Boeing Wichita Communications. Topics ranged from the dangers of Twitter and Facebook to the use of social media in a secure environment.
Door prizes and a social completed the event.
Vera Bothner, Bothner and Bradley, won a MarketingProfs.com “Step-by-step guide to creating a social media policy,” Julie Lowrance, Mid-Continent Instruments, and Susan Dyer, Kansas Credit Union Association, won Free State Social tote bags and Sid Washburn, Fidelity Bank, won the “Marketing Mix Decisions: New Perspectives and Practices” book.
